Alex Gellman has been involved in wireless since 1986 beginning with the acquisition of early cellular licenses, site management, and asset ownership. Alex recognized the importance of shared infrastructure and led one of the first wireless shared infrastructure businesses managing rooftops for wireless services in the 1990s.
His experience and leadership skills led Alex to co-found Vertical Bridge, LLC in 2014. Vertical Bridge is the largest private owner and operator of wireless communications infrastructure in the United States, and the first telecommunications tower company in the world to reach carbon neutrality, gaining CarbonNeutral® certification in 2020.
Today Alex remains active as Executive Chairman of Vertical Bridge, as well as a Senior Advisor and Co-Founder of DigitalBridge, a leading global alternative asset manager dedicated to investing in digital infrastructure. He also currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Wireless Infrastructure Association and on the Boards of EdgePoint Infrastructure and Highline do Brasil, leading private tower companies serving Southeast Asia and Latin America, respectively.
Prior to co-founding Vertical Bridge, Alex was President and COO of Global Tower Partners and was instrumental in growing the company into the largest privately-held tower company in the U.S. at the time of its 2013 sale to American Tower Corporation. Earlier in his career, Alex co-founded Apex Site Management, which merged with SpectraSite Communications in 2000. He additionally co-founded and served as VP of Development of Horizon Cellular Group, a McCaw Cellular-backed company that acquired, developed, and operated rural cellular franchises across the eastern United States.
Along with his wife, Robyn Moncrief, Alex is also a strong supporter of a wide variety of philanthropies and charitable causes that focus on areas such as disadvantaged youth, veterans, and disaster recovery, as well as those that support the wireless industry such as the Tower Family Foundation, Warriors for Wireless, Telecom Against Trafficking and Exploitation (TATE), and the Music Movement.
He is a graduate of The Wharton School of Business with a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance and Accounting and holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Tufts University.
