Dan Hesse redefined the way wireless services are sold and delivered to customers, in multiple wireless generations and at two of the largest wireless carriers. He spent 23 years at AT&T, where from 1997 to 2000, he served as the President and CEO of AT&T Wireless Services. During his tenure, AT&T launched the transformative Digital One Rate, a marketing innovation that provided a single ‘bucket’ rate and eliminated separate charges for roaming and long distance.

From 2007 to 2014, Dan served as President and CEO of Sprint Corporation. In that time the company went from worst to first in JD Power customer satisfaction ratings as a result of greatly simplifying the buying experience for customers transitioning to smartphones and digital services. As an industry leader, Dan also championed sustainability and corporate responsibility issues not only at his company, but across the entire industry.

Throughout his career, Dan has been recognized by a number of major industry and media publications, including the magazines:  Fierce Wireless, Entrepreneur, Wireless Week, Corporate Responsibility, LAPTOP, RCR, and Wireless Business & Technology, for his leadership, his vision, and his commitment to improved corporate governance and responsibility, and sustainability initiatives. In 2011, Dan served as Chairman of the Board of CTIA. He has also has been deeply involved with philanthropic organizations. Dan serves on the National Board of Governors of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and on the board of directors of the JUST Capital Foundation.

Dan is Board Chairman of Akamai Technologies, and is a board member of PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. where he chairs the Technology Committee. Previously, Dan was the Chairman and CEO of Embarq Corporation, and Chairman, President and CEO of Terabeam Corporation. He is a host of the podcast The Mentors Radio, discussing business challenges, lessons and life stories with celebrities and business leaders.

A graduate of Notre Dame, Dan also has an MBA from Cornell, and an MS from MIT where he was awarded the Brooks Thesis Prize. In 2022, Dan was inducted into the Wireless Hall of Fame at the annual Hall of Fame awards dinner in Washington, DC.
